You are looking for non plug and play drivers. Open Device Manager and select View > Show Hidden Devices. Not that that would help since it's been so long, my version is not supported anymore.Īnyone have any ideas? Thanks for reading.Įdited by loomer, 28 February 2020 - 03:18 PM.

I bought MacDrive but I don't have a registration key for it. Lastly I searched for an uninstall tool from the makers (mediafour) but came up empty.

Also, I'm very wary of installing any third-party software to fix this. I bought a EdgeRouter X for a router/firewall and that's great. It was probably fixable if I took the time but I wasn't into it. To their credit, it uninstalled cleanly and they gave me a refund. I ditched Comodo because it messed up my Windows processes to the point where I had to uninstall it to get my task bar back. Notes: CCleaner does not see MacDrive stuff and never did.

There's at least 30? Now when I right-click on something to get properties, the install dialog pops up three times but disappears instantly for the properties window. Of course it didn't delete the effing MacDrive registry entries.

Not only did it upgrade my Windows to 10 PRO for FREE but it fixed the USB problem.

I've been on Windows 7 Pro for the last six years until today.įinally, I found this little deal the Windows 10 Installation Media from Microsoft. Up until now, it's been Windows 7 Pro I'm referring to. Which is logical since MacDrive has hooks into all the possible media ports on my PC. No wonder I couldn't restore from a backup. My USB port was not working so I couldn't see all my drives. Finally, I booted to "the last good bootup of Windows" or something and that at least got me back to the desktop.Įxcept it didn't. I had a saved registry file which I loaded via Windows rescue. I thought no problem, I've got restore points on an external drive. I went crazy last night and did a top to bottom search/delete of anything that said "macdrive" and "mediafour" in regedit. The MacDrive thing went away for about an hour. I poked around in regedit, found a couple of entries and deleted those. But it was real nuisance taking time to just get a properties of something. So guess what? I right-click on a directory or something to get properties and an installation dialog pops up asking where is the MadDrive installer. Found some directories in C: Programs, rm -rf'ed those, thought I was good. Another Comodo scan up pops MacDrive on my C: drive! OK, I'll dig for it. During a complete scan, it found the MacDrive installer on an external HD and whoa, flagged it as a virus/malware. Or so I thought.Ī few weeks ago, I gave Comodo firewall/internet suite a go. I needed files from the Mac so I pulled the HD out, stuck it in a USB docking station, installed MacDrive by Mediafour software. MacDrive creates peace between the platforms.OK, long story (for documentation's sake and stress relief).Ībout 6 years ago, my Macbook Pro burnt for the second time with a hardware/graphics card failure.
